St. Swithin’s Lane will be a 61-bedroom ‘hub’ by Premier Inn; a new type of hotel in central London. In total, there were 7 storeys to be completed, as well as a basement.
A13 Steel installed staircases, balustrades, platforms with gratings, durbar plates, wall plates and other steelwork material for those floors. A13 Steel’s welders also carried out lift shaft refabrication on site which had to be completed within a very short timeframe and involved working 7 days a week. Engineers had to complete site surveys with very limited access due to ongoing works on the site. It was challenging to prepare drawings due to the limited information provided. The installation team were working on site all the time with other subcontractors. This involved very limited access and a very short timeframe to complete these jobs. The Transport department was also required to plan their logistics, as in Central London, access for deliveries was limited. This project is still ongoing and expected to be finished in the near future.
