London Stansted Airport is an international airport located at Stansted Mountfitchet in the district of Uttlesford in Essex, 42 mi northeast of Central London and 0.9 mi from the Hertfordshire border. London Stansted serves 200 destinations across Europe, Middle East and Africa.
This development was one of the first projects at the airport for A13 Steel. For this project, A13 Steel was required to complete steelwork construction at the check-in desks near the UK border force office in Stansted airport. A13 Steel’s engineers carried out the connection design for the client which also proved challenging as the structural steelwork was not standard.
All of the steelwork project was completed successfully without any mistakes and on time, whilst at the same time ensuring that the public remained safe and protected. Transport deliveries had to be planned due to restrictions at the airport. A13 Steel’s installation team had the biggest challenge; working in the airport where it was accessible to the public and travellers from across the world. As would be expected in a project of this calibre, the works had to be completed according the highest safety standards, plus the works involved night shifts as well. A13 Steel employees had to be flexible in order to complete the entire development. Successfully achieving an excellent rating on all of the works, the client was satisfied with the quality and time taken to complete the work.
